  1. Hi Sara Jaffe: I am a family therapist and writer living in Seattle and discovered your book at Elliot Bay Bookstore. I grew up in Brooklyn and Queens, NY. My grandfather, Sam Jaffe, had a “falling out” with his brother and lost touch with him. I have always wondered about that lost side of the family. Does any of this sound familiar to you?

    1. Hello Fredda,
Thanks for checking out DRYLAND and getting in touch! I checked in with my dad and he didn’t seem to think we came from the same branch of the Jaffe tree… Good luck in your search!

  2. Sara, I coproduce Perfectly Queer, a reading series at Books Inc. Castro in San Francisco. I’m organizing a July 11 reading called The Long and Short of It, 3 writers of novels and short stories. Michael Aleynikov and Jim Provezano have agreed to be readers. Would you as well? Each of you would read 10 minutes, then we’d have a 15 minute discussion among the 3 of you, moderated by me, of writing in the two forns, with audience questions, followed by book sales and signing. Thank you for considering this.

  3. Hello!

I am a queer scholar in Denton, TX, and I came across your JSTOR Daily article on “Queer Time” this past week. I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved it on so many levels. Incredibly insightful and well written.

  4. Really loved your piece on Team Dresch ( and felt like I re-lived it all through you! Got my reissued bundle in the mail last week and have tickets to their upcoming show in Los Angeles — I’ll be the one up front in my 20-year-old ratty Candyass Records tee, holding hands with the love of my life and celebrating the fact that T.D. (and others) made me feel like I could do anything, back when doing anything beyond surviving felt like a miracle. Thanks for the wonderful reflection!
